PRESCHOOL FOR ALL
Preschool Enrollment Information
Central Stickney School District 110 offers an inclusive, high-quality preschool experience for 3- and 4-year-old children through the Preschool for All grant. This program provides a research-based curriculum and is offered at no cost to parents. Thanks to the grant, Sahs School is able to offer half-day preschool.
If you are interested in enrolling your child in Sahs Preschool, the first step is to attend a Preschool Screening. To request a screening appointment, please click "Preschool Screening" in the menu to the left.
Preschool Screening
Sahs School conducts Preschool Screenings to assess children's skills in communication, cognition, social-emotional development, and motor skills. The team uses a standard assessment to determine whether a child's development is on track or may be delayed.
Attending a Preschool Screening is the first step toward securing a spot in Sahs Preschool. It also helps identify any preschool-age children who may need additional instruction or support. If any concerns are raised during the screening, further evaluation will be discussed with parents.
Preschool Screenings are typically held twice a year (fall and spring), and an appointment is required. Children must be at least 2 years and 6 months old to attend. To schedule a screening, please submit the Preschool Screening Interest Form.
SPECIAL EDUCATION SERVICES
Special Education services are designed for students identified with a disability under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). After students are evaluated and found eligible for special education, an Individualized Education Program (IEP) is developed.
An IEP is created in collaboration with parents, general education teachers, and special services staff, and is reviewed at least once a year. The IEP outlines the student's unique needs and the strategies that will be used to address them.
In addition to specialized instruction, related services may be provided to support students in benefiting from special education. These services may include, but are not limited to, social work, speech/language therapy, assistive technology, occupational or physical therapy, and adaptive physical education.
Please note, related services are determined based on educational needs and may differ from services provided in a medical model.
If you have concerns about your child's development, progress in school, or suspect your child may have a disability, please contact the Student Services Coordinator at 708-458-1152 ext. 323.
A.E.R.O. Special Education Cooperative
Central Stickney School District 110 is a member of the A.E.R.O. Special Education Cooperative, a collaboration of local elementary and high school districts. By pooling resources, A.E.R.O. member districts are able to provide the appropriate services for students residing within the cooperative.

Medicaid Notification
With a parent’s consent, the School District may access Medicaid or other public benefits or insurance programs in which the parent’s child participates and provide the child’s personally identifiable information to Medicaid or other public benefits or insurance programs in order to provide or pay for IEP services, to the extent permitted under the other public benefits or insurance programs.
The School District may not require a parent to sign up for or enroll in public benefits or insurance programs in order for the parent’s child to receive IEP services.
The School District may not require the parent to incur out-of-pocket expenses such as the payment of a deductible or co-pay amount incurred in filing a claim for services, other than any cost that the parent would otherwise be required to pay.
The School District may not use a child’s benefits under a public benefits or insurance program if that use would decrease available lifetime coverage or any other insured benefit; or result in the family paying for services that would otherwise be covered by the public benefits or insurance program and that are required for the child outside of the time he/she is in school; or increase premiums or lead to the discontinuation of benefits or insurance; or risk loss of eligibility for home and community-based waivers, based on aggregate health-related expenditures.
A parent’s refusal to allow the School District to access Medicaid or other public benefits or insurance programs does not relieve the District of its responsibility to ensure that all required IEP services are provided to the child at no cost to the parent. Likewise, the withdrawal of consent or refusal to provide consent under 34 C.F.R. Part 99 and Part 300 to disclose personally identifiable information to Medicaid or other public benefits or insurance programs does not relieve the School District of its responsibility to ensure that all required services are provided at no cost to the child.
A parent has the right under 34 C.F.R. Part 99 and Part 300 to withdraw his/her consent to access Medicaid or other public benefits or insurance programs and/or to disclose his/her child’s personally identifiable information to Medicaid or other public benefits or insurance programs at any time.
Provision of Related Service Logs
Students receiving related services as part of their IEP will have service logs maintained by the District. Parents/guardians may request a copy of these logs at any time by contacting the case manager or Student Services Coordinator.
Policy and Procedure for Use of Restraint/Time Out
Consistent with Illinois law and Central Stickney School District 110 Board Policy,Isolated time out, time out, and physical restraint shall only be used if the student's behavior presents an imminent danger of serious physical harm to the student or others and other less restrictive and intrusive measures were tried and proven ineffective in stopping it. The school may not use isolated time out, time out, and physical restraint as discipline or punishment, convenience for staff, retaliation, a substitute for appropriate educational or behavioral support, a routine safety matter, or to prevent property damage in the absence of imminent danger of serious physical harm to the student or others. The use of prone restraint is prohibited.
Designated School Official: The Student Services Coordinator is the designated school official who will be informed of all incidents and maintain the documentation required under the Illinois School Code and its regulations.

Section 504
Students with disabilities who do not qualify for an Individualized Education Program (“IEP”) may qualify for services under Section 504 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act of 1973, if the student: (1) has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, (2) has a record of a physical or mental impairment, or (3) is regarded as having a physical or mental impairment.
It is the intent of District 110 to ensure that students who are disabled within the definition of Section 504 are identified, evaluated and provided with appropriate education accommodations and services to meet their needs. This federal law prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability by any program or activity that receives or benefits from federal funding. Section 504 requires that disabled students be provided with a free appropriate public education including education with non-disabled peers to the maximum extent appropriate.
Referrals for consideration for Section 504 eligibility may be made at any time. A referral may be made by individuals with knowledge of the student’s needs and/or educational programming, including teachers, other staff members, parents, etc. For information on identification, assessment or placement, or if you believe your child meets one of the above categories and requires reasonable accommodations, please contact the Student Services Coordinator.
